I buff/file my nails every time I apply a new coat of polish even if I changed it the day before (i do that because the acrylics fucked up my nails) I am also using a base that i really love (it's actually be Revlon) I apply a fairly thin layer of polish to start, being very careful around the edges of my nails. Apply my second coat, finish off with my third if need be. I then apply a fairly thick layer of seche vite.
